Hello everyone! Barcamp is just under a month away and everything is starting to take shape. We have 3 confirmed sponsors who, together, will cover all the costs for the event. Thanks to Shift (http://shift.co.nz/), APN Finda (http://www.finda.co.nz/) and of course, Microsoft NZ (http://www.microsoft.com/nz/), we couldn't have made this event happen without you! If you're company would like to donate freebies to give out, maybe sponsor an iPod Shuffle, 100 bottles of water with your company logo on it or anything else, then please contact me and we can chat about it :) I'd like to thank Karl von Randow who's been helping me a lot lately, giving advice and especially for helping with our latest 2 sponsors. He also helped find Matthew Allen AKA Mata, who'll be designing the event t-shirt! That's right, we have enough sponsors to be able to give everyone who confirms a t-shirt. Thanks to both of you for making my job a bit easier (especially since I'm now in the middle of exams.) PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE. Sorry for the caps but so far around 30 out of the 55 registered attendees have confirmed. That means we'll be ordering atleast 30 t-shirts (and these will only be given to those confirmed) and food for 30. We want to be placing orders for atleast 80, so those of you who haven't yet confirmed, please do so (you can click on the welcome email, or reply to this email stating you'd like to confirm.) Thanks to everyone who's done so already. Finally, please spread the word. We have 55 registered attendees and around 30 confirmed attendees. We want that confirmed attendees number to be atleast 80 within the next two weeks - to do that we need your help. Tell your friends, colleagues and anyone else you think should attend or would like to meet or listen to. Remember, Barcamp is an "un-conference" which means there are no planned sessions. The presentations on the day will be made by you, the attendees, so if we want this to be a great day, we need more people to attend and more people to present. Other ways to spread the word: blog it, twitter/jaiku/pownce it, facebook/myspace/bebo it, set it as your custom message on MSN/AIM/Google Talk, basically do whatever you can to get the word out. Remember: Confirm your attendance, then spread the word :) Can't wait to meet you all at the event, Ludwig Wendzich BarcampOrganiser PS: If you didn't get Newsletter #1 then please find it at http://bca.ludwignz.com/newsletter1.txt I'm sure you're all glad this was just an Update not another Newsletter :)
